We use the PCI Reading program in our classroom. Students spend 45 minutes each day rotating through four stations focusing on a different skill related to the word of the day. This program teaches one word each day while embedding previously learned words in new lessons for added repetition and practice. PCI reading also incorporates several different parts such as real world connections, handwriting, oral fluency, word games, and many fiction reading books. When studnets show mastery of level 1 they advance to level 2 to learn an additional 140 words as well as text wrapping, end punctuation marks, inflectional endings, and compound words.
