. The Humboldt Jr. High Library Media Center is where students come to research, write and select reading material. A large collection of fiction books with Accelerated Reader tests provides students with a great chance for improving their reading. Reference books support classroom projects expecially in Science, Health, American History and World Geography. A wide variety of magazines compliments the collection.
Over twenty computers in the library and 30 in the computer lab provide students with a place to access the internet for research purposes. Each trimester, students use the word processing program for their final writing assignments.
Three times a  | | Section of Humboldt Junior High Library | year, the library invites all students to participate in RIF. That’s Reading is Fundamental, a federal program that helps students build their own home library. At each RIF give-away, students get to select one book to add to their collection. Our RIF dates for this year are October 17. December 19, and March 26.
The library is also the venue for St. Olaf’s Hoops ‘n Homework program. They utilize the space on Thursday afternoons for the tutoring segment of their program. Pick up a permission slip if you’d like to join!
Ms.Vicky Larson is the school Library Media Specialist. She has worked at Humboldt Jr. since 2002. “I love working at Humboldt Jr. The staff is hardworking and dedicated and the students are energetic, friendly, and intelligent.”
